The story and journey behind the face of 'The Alternative Therapist".  

I was born and raised in a small town just south of Cairns and I love to live a simple life.  I love what I do! 

​

I enjoy being able to help people with my gift and seeing their lives change from a little body tune up or achieving pain management through Massage, Emmett Technique or Reiki.

​

My background is from one extreme to the next. During the day I work a desk job in finance, and in the afternoons and on weekends I'm able to focus on what I love, and that is treating people and horses with my alternative therapies. I was also previously involved in rehabilitation of sporting athletes for the Northern Pride when I was a personal trainer. 

​

My introduction to Emmett Technique was interesting to say the least! I tore my calf muscle while doing intense training for a triathlon. Being in constant pain and not being able to walk or climb stairs, I was willing to try anything to get this thing fixed. 

​

Emmett Technique is the manipulation and release of muscles to enable movement, mobility, relaxation, soreness.  

This technique is non-invasive and consists of a simple light touch.  Emmett Technique aligns, balances and assists the body to make new memory with muscular structure by allowing it to relax and reset.

I had a few treatments from a local practitioner and I was up and running and training again in no time and haven't looked back since.  I perform Emmett on myself regularly as I do like to push my body to its limits at times.

After a few years of treating humans and becoming a qualified Practitioner of Emmett for Humans, I decided to dabble in the Equine world. This took learning and healing to a whole new level.  Becoming an Equine Emmett Technique Therapist really allowed me to grow and expand my knowledge. Being able to work with horses, see the reactions and the amazing results is so beneficial and fulfilling.

For me, being qualified in both human and equine Emmett simply goes hand in hand. The benefit of being able to treat the rider and horse at the same time helps to ensure the best working relationship and to ensure the rider and horse are in tune with each other.

In 2020 Reiki came into my life. It's something that had been on my mind for years, it really got me thinking of the energy flow of the body and I was hooked.  I started to learn the technique and fell in love with the movements, benefits and overall feeling of wellbeing I had when receiving and giving this beautiful treatment.  Working with the mind, body and soul, Reiki is such a powerful tool. Energy work like this can help to assist heal past trauma the body and soul holds onto for protection. Especially with the crazy days in the last year…2020…right! I believe that everyone needs a little Reiki in their life to realign, balance and help the body release the emotions and help it grow with mindfulness.

2021 is a new year for challenges. Being a big believer in massage and the benefits of them for numerous years, has led me to expand and fine tune my skills, so why not turn my hand to that.  The logical part of me say's massage goes hand in hand with Emmett Technique and Reiki, such a beautiful pairing and combination.  So, then massage and reflexology got added to the tool box of healing tricks.

To be able to assist a person or an animal with my gift is not work to me, it’s a passion. It allows me to grow as a person, allows the person receiving the treatment to feel good and that is such a beautiful feeling to have. 

 

No matter if you're human or animal all living beings deserve to live their life pain free, in comfort, with the freedom of mobility and overall health and wellbeing. My therapies are non-invasive and can be adapted to suit all needs.
